How do I file an application for registration of a copyright?
You are encouraged to file on-line at a reduced fee. Filing on-line will also ensure that your application will be processed more quickly. The online application form can be found on the Application For Registration of a Copyright in a Work page. Payments for online requests can be made using a credit card (Amex, Mastercard or Visa) or through a CIPO deposit account if one has been set up.
You can also submit your application by mail with a cheque or money order payable to the Receiver General for Canada in the amount of the prescribed fee, or by fax to (819) 953–2476 with a credit card number and signed authorization. When sending payments by mail or facsimile, please use the Fee Payment Form.
A form for applications submitted by mail or fax may be printed from our website.
