When should I expect my application to become registered and what does it mean for me?

Once approved by the examiner, your design will be registered the same day provided you have not requested delayed registration. For details on our service standards.

You will receive a certificate of registration, which includes a:

• registration certificate;
• copy of the application (including drawings);
• covering sheet summarizing the information about the design; and
• notice explaining the requirements for maintenance of the registration.

This certificate is evidence of ownership and the originality of your design.
