Can anyone do a search through the Industrial Design Office records?

Yes, anyone can conduct a search via the Internet by accessing the Canadian Industrial Designs Database (www.cipo.ic.gc.ca/iddatabase). There is also a search room at the CIPO Client Service Centre, in Gatineau, Quebec. Client Service Centre staff will give you the basic information you need to do the search. You may also obtain copies of drawings and other documents at a nominal fee (see Tariff of Fees).
