Effective immediately, the Trademarks Office will no longer refund the extension fee, even when the request for an extension of time is refused by the Office.

The fee set out in Item 9 of the Tariff of Fees, that is payable on the filing of an application for an extension of time pursuant to subsection 47(1) or (2) of the Act, is considered to cover the work associated with the application for an extension and is not considered to be dependent on whether or not the extension of time is granted.
