Subsection 28 (1) of the Trade-marks Act provides that "there shall be kept under the supervision of the Registrar:
- an index of registered trademarks;
- an index of trademarks in respect of which applications for registration are pending;
- an index of applications that have been abandoned or refused;
- an index of the names of owners of registered trademarks;
- an index of the names of applicants for the registration of trademarks.
Effective immediately, the official version of these is the one kept by the Registrar in electronic form. The version of the Indices that are kept in paper form are not the official version but will remain available for consultation by members of the public for a transition period
